HSPVA Magnet Application

  1. At the beginning of November there will be an application available at the HISD Magnet Department website (Select the Applications link to the left of the web page). HSPVA will begin accepting applications on Nov. 12, 2007. The application is also available at all HISD middle schools or you may come and pick one up at HSPVA. In order to receive an audition in the first round of auditions applications must be received by January 11, 2008.
  2. Fill out the application and attach the following documents:
    • A copy of this year's report card
    • Last year's final report card
    • A copy of the permanent record card
    • A copy of the test records
    • A copy of your immunization record
    • Proof of residency (gas or light bill or lease agreement)
    Be sure that you fill out the application completely and attach the documents. Some auditions Cannot be scheduled without complete information. If you are an instrumentalist, please indicate your instrument on the back of the application.
  3. Submit the application and documents to
    HSPVA

    Houston TX 77006.
    We cannot accept faxed applications.
  4. Ms. Willson will notify you by mail as to the date and time of your audition. If you fail to come to the audition or if you are late, you will not be rescheduled unless you call the day before the audition. If you want to apply for more than one art area, number your preference next to the box on the application. Auditions for second areas will be scheduled after determining qualification in the first area.
  5. Call back auditions will be held in late February and early March 2008 for students who pass the first audition. A call-back audition does not mean that the student has been accepted. Notice of final acceptance will be mailed district-wide on March 28, 2008.

Students who live outside of the Houston ISD boundries will be considered for acceptance in June if there is space available. The audition time is the same as in-district students. Tuition for out-of-district students has not been determined by HISD at this time. For reference: last school year's tuition was $7,253.00 for the 2005-2006 school year, payable in 10 monthly installments.

Contrary to the currently available HISD application, HSPVA does not have a report card grade requirement for students to be scheduled for an audition.
