HSPVA Department of Dance Facts

Young Audiences of Houston

The HSPVA Concert Dancers are the only high school serving as a performance group with Young Audiences of Houston and has been doing so for the past 15 years.

Summer Dance Workshops:

Each summer numerous HSPVA Dance majors are selected for highly competitive conservatory and university dance program across the U.S. including the very prestigious Jacobs Pillow, American Dance Festival, Julliard Summer, Bates Dance Festival, and American Ballet Theatre programs.

Commissioned Guest choreographer/artists:

Over the past 13 years, the HSPVA Department of Dance has commissioned over 55 guest choreographer/artists to work with the HSPVA Concert Dancers. This is unprecedented in comparison to previous years and the other HSPVA art areas. This does not include the numerous master classes held each year in the Dance Department.

There is not another HSPVA art area that has graduates that have achieve this level of recognition.
