A native Houstonian and graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Patricia Bonner is the coordinator of the HSPVA Music Department. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Education degrees in Music from the University of Houston . In 1983 she was HSPVA's Teacher of the Year, and in 1981 she was named a finalist for the University of Texas Outstanding High School Teacher Award . In 1993 she received the Price-Waterhouse Denny Award for Teaching Excellence, and in 1998 and 2000 she received the Presidential Scholars Teacher Recognition Award in Washington D.C.

Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association (of which she is a member of the state board), the Texas Choral Directors Association, the American Choral Directors Association, the National Education Association, and the Texas State Teachers Association.

A member of the First United Methodist Church , Ms. Bonner is active in the Sanctuary Choir, Handbell Choir, Sunday School, and she is an active member of the Administrative Board.



Director of Vocal Studies has been on the faculty of HSPVA since 1988 when she began as a consultant and part time voice teacher. She directs two vocal ensembles, the HSPVA Chamber Singers and the Mixed Chorus. Ms. Nelson is a 1988 honors graduate of the University of Houston Moore's School of Music. Also on the staff of the Houston Boychoir, she served there as Interim Artistic Director, and prepared the choir for the Houston Symphony Orchestra Benjamin Britten Symphony of a Thousand, the Mahler Symphony Number Eight, a fourteen day concert tour of the Republic of China, and a six day concert tour of Louisiana, among other concert events. As a singer, Ms. Nelson has sung in many choirs and has been a featured soloist with the Houston Bach Society, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, the bay Area Chorus and numerous churches. She has several award winning students and often serves as a clinician in the area middle schools.



Choral director at HSPVA, Mr. Seible holds degrees from Oklahoma University and Sam Houston State Universities where he was a conducting student of Dr. B. R. Henson. In addition, Mr. Seible is choirmaster/music coordinator at Bering Memorial United Methodist Church of Houston, adjunct faculty member with TUTS/Humphries School of Musical Theatre and has been rehearsal accompanist for both TUTS and HGO children's choruses. For three years he served as musical director for the Galveston Island Summer Musicals. Mr. Seible was the artistic director of the Bay Area Chorus for seven years. He is well-known as a clinician and adjudicator, and is in demand as an accompanist, both in solo recital and choral performances. His name was included in the 1989 edition of "Outstanding Young Men of America" and was selected "Teacher of the Year" at Moore High School in 1977, Memorial High School in 1991 and at HSPVA in 1995.
