§ Suzi Elderman is the school nurse at HSPVA. A member of the staff since 1994, she has also worked in many other areas of nursing. She is a native 6th generation Galvestonian (B.O.I-Born on the Island!). Ms. Elderman has her RN from Galveston College and has done further studies at the University of St. Thomas and Sam Houston State College. She is a member of the Texas Association of School Nurses. One of her proudest career moments was when she was awarded the Methodist Hospital Presidential Commendation for saving a choking child in a restaurant. She enjoys reading and taking day trips. She is married, and the owner of a black seven-year-old Standard Poodle, Max, (weight 60 lbs.). She feels this certainly qualifies her as having a toddler that never grows up! She loves being a part of making a difference at HSPVA.
